Me Encanta Costa Rica is a 14-day Spanish immersion program in Costa Rica that teaches Spanish language learning alongside cultural exploration, outdoor adventure, and meaningful local connection. Students travel across Costa Rica’s volcanoes, cloud forests, artisan towns, and Pacific coastline before spending six days living with host families through the Xperitas Family Stay Experience®.

From browsing colorful local markets and painting traditional oxcart wheels in Sarchí to hiking around Arenal Volcano, exploring Monteverde’s cloud forest, and relaxing on the beaches of Manuel Antonio, students experience the country’s landscapes and traditions while practicing Spanish in authentic settings. Each activity encourages curiosity, communication, and a deeper appreciation for Costa Rican culture.

Built for student groups, this Costa Rica Spanish immersion program highlights everyday family life, helping students strengthen language skills while building confidence, cultural understanding, and lasting international connections.

Program Details

Price

  • $3,199 per student PLUS cost of international flights*
  • For every six students the cost of one leader is included in the price
  • For every enrolled student on your program, there is a $50 leader stipend to help leaders offset expenses while abroad
  • Students can save $200 with Our Early Bird Discount!

*Travelers do not need to arrange their own air. Air travel is included in the program, but the cost will be added once the group air contract is confirmed. Price is valid for 2027

About Your Guide

Programs are led by experienced, local guides with deep cultural knowledge. The role of guides is as follows:

  • Supports the group getting to and from activities and sites
  • Manages logistics (transportation, schedule, tickets)
  • Serves as the primary on‑the‑ground support and problem‑solver
  • Provides cultural context when applicable
  • Supported by local guides at specific sites

What You’ll See & Do

Day 1 | San José
Arrive in San José and meet your guide before transferring to your hotel for your first night in Costa Rica.

Day 2 | Arenal
Visit the colorful Alajuela Market to practice your Spanish before stopping in Sarchí for a traditional artisan workshop. Continue to Arenal and unwind in the area’s natural hot springs.

Day 3 | Arenal
Hike to La Fortuna Waterfall before visiting an organic farm to learn about tropical agriculture. Participate in a reforestation project and enjoy lunch surrounded by Costa Rica’s lush countryside.

Day 4 | Monteverde
Begin the day with a hike near Arenal Volcano before crossing Lake Arenal by boat to the famous cloud forests of Monteverde.

Day 5 | Monteverde
Explore the Monteverde Reserve before soaring through the cloud forest on an exciting zipline adventure.

Day 6 | Manuel Antonio
Travel toward Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, watching for sloths, crocodiles, parrots, and other native wildlife along the way.

Day 7 | Manuel Antonio
Visit Manuel Antonio National Park, where rainforest meets the beach. Enjoy free time along the coast while keeping an eye out for monkeys, sloths, and iguanas.

Day 8 | Family Stay
Travel to your Family Stay community and meet your Costa Rican host family. Begin experiencing everyday life while putting your Spanish into practice.

Days 9–13 | Family Stay
Spend your days living alongside your host family, sharing meals, conversations, and daily routines while developing greater confidence using Spanish in real-world situations.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner


Day 14 | Return
Say goodbye to your host family before transferring to the airport for your journey home.

Important Details

Prices are based on a minimum group size of 24 students. If the minimum is not met and your group cannot be combined, a small-group supplement will apply. Final pricing is determined by confirmed dates, air arrangements, family stay communities, program components, group size, and number of leaders at final billing.

Prices are subject to change due to fluctuations in fuel prices, exchange rates, and airfare costs beyond the control of Xperitas.

The order of itinerary items may change due to unforeseen circumstances prior to or during the program.
