Discover Ecuador Through Service, Culture & Environmental Action

Ecuador en Acción is a 10-day educational travel experience centered on meaningful engagement and reflection. Designed for student groups seeking purpose-driven travel, this program incorporates cultural exploration with hands-on service, offering structured volunteer opportunities in Ecuador that encourage connection, responsibility, and global awareness.

At the heart of the experience is sustained volunteer work in Ecuador at the Center for Working Families, where students support community initiatives focused on education, financial literacy, and empowerment. This service component is balanced with guided cultural activities that introduce students to Ecuador’s history, traditions, and everyday life.

From the historic streets of Quito to the cloud forests of Mindo, Students will engage actively with both people and place, returning home with new perspectives and a deeper sense of global responsibility.

Program Details

Price

  • $2,949 per student PLUS cost of international flights*
  • For every six students the cost of one leader is included in the price
  • For every enrolled student on your program, there is a $50 leader stipend to help leaders offset expenses while abroad
  • Students can save $200 with Our Early Bird Discount!

*Travelers do not need to arrange their own air. Air travel is included in the program, but the cost will be added once the group air contract is confirmed. Price is valid for 2027

About your guide

Programs are led by experienced, local guides with deep cultural knowledge. The role of guides is as follows:

  • Supports the group getting to and from activities and sites
  • Manages logistics (transportation, schedule, tickets)
  • Serves as the primary on‑the‑ground support and problem‑solver
  • Provides cultural context when applicable
  • Supported by local guides at specific sites

What You’ll See & Do

Day 1 | Quito
Arrive in Quito, meet your in-country guide, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 | Quito
Begin your immersion with volunteer work at the Center for Working Families, supporting programs focused on education and empowerment.

Day 3 | Quito
Continue service learning activities and build meaningful connections with the local community.

Day 4 | Quito
Ride the Teleférico for panoramic city views, then visit the Mitad del Mundo to explore the cultural and scientific significance of the equator.

Day 5 | Quito
Visit a local market, take part in a salsa dance class, prepare a traditional meal during a cooking class, and explore the Museo Guayasamín.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner


Day 6 | Quito
Travel north to Otavalo to explore the renowned artisan market. Visit a weaving workshop in Peguche, Cascada de Peguche, enjoy an Andean music demonstration, and stop in Cotacachi.

Day 7 | Mindo
Journey to Mindo for a zipline experience through the cloud forest, followed by leisure time and a nocturnal nature hike featuring the famous “frog concert.”

Day 8 | Mindo
Hike to scenic waterfalls in the morning and enjoy free time in the afternoon.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner


Day 9 | En Route
Visit the butterfly garden, return to Quito, and depart late evening for your overnight flight.

Day 10 | Return
Arrive in the United States.

Important Details

Prices are based on a minimum group size of 10 students. If the minimum is not met and your group cannot be combined, a small-group supplement will apply. Final pricing is determined by confirmed dates, air arrangements, family stay communities, program components, group size, and number of leaders at final billing.

Prices are subject to change due to fluctuations in fuel prices, exchange rates, and airfare costs beyond the control of Xperitas.

The order of itinerary items may change due to unforeseen circumstances prior to or during the program.
