Simplement Suisse is an 11-day, teacher-led French language and cultural immersion program in France and Switzerland. Begin with a five-night Xperitas Family Stay Experience® in France, where students practice French through shared meals, conversations, and everyday routines with their hosts. Each family offers a different opportunity to discover local life and build connections.
Continue to Switzerland to explore Montreux and Lausanne, visit Château de Chillon, and enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Geneva. Discover regional food traditions through cheese and chocolate factory visits in Gruyères and Broc, including a raclette lunch. Visits to the Alimentarium and Olympic Museum add opportunities to learn about food, sport, and culture.
Throughout the program, students put their French into practice while discovering the communities and traditions of France and French-speaking Switzerland. Teachers lead the group, with Xperitas support and the option to add a travel coordinator.

The role of the Travel Coordinator is as follows:
Day 1 | Departure
Depart from the United States for your overnight flight to Lyon, France, where your French language and cultural experience begins.

Day 2 | Family Stay
Arrive at Lyon Airport and transfer to your family stay community. Meet your host family and begin your five-night Xperitas Family Stay Experience®, practicing French through everyday conversations.

Days 3–6 | Family Stay
Continue your stay with your host family, using French during meals, conversations, and everyday routines. Get to know your hosts, learn about their community, and discover how daily life in France compares with your own. Activities vary by family, giving each student a different experience of local life.

Day 7 | Montreux
Say goodbye to your host family and travel by coach to Montreux, Switzerland. Explore the lakeside promenade and enjoy views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps.

Day 8 | Montreux
Use public transportation to visit the Alimentarium Museum in Vevey, where you’ll learn about the science and culture of food, and the historic Château de Chillon. Enjoy a scenic boat cruise on Lake Geneva.

Day 9 | Lausanne
Travel by coach to Gruyères for a cheese factory visit and a traditional raclette lunch. Continue to Broc for a chocolate factory visit and tasting before arriving in Lausanne.

Day 10 | Lausanne
Visit the Olympic Museum and discover Lausanne’s historic center on a teacher-led walking tour, including Place de la Palud and the Gothic cathedral. Celebrate the end of your program with a farewell dinner.

Day 11 | Return
Transfer by private coach to Geneva Airport for your return flight to the United States.

Prices are based on a minimum group size of 10 students. If the minimum is not met and your group cannot be combined, a small-group supplement will apply. Final pricing is determined by confirmed dates, air arrangements, family stay communities, program components, group size, and number of leaders at final billing.
Prices are subject to change due to fluctuations in fuel prices, exchange rates, and airfare costs beyond the control of Xperitas.
The order of itinerary items may change due to unforeseen circumstances prior to or during the program.
My son had a fantastic time. He wanted to go back before he was even home. The Family Stay Experience was great for him. Hiking, youth group, family birthday party, relaxing at the family home, hanging out with his host brother’s friends and checking out the city. He really enjoyed the complete package of this trip!
He would not have taken French for four years if this trip wasn’t planned. And now he is taking a fifth year of French. My son has always been a saver. But having to save and earn money to pay for the majority of this trip was a life-long lesson. He is hoping to visit France and other countries in the future.
For any students who are unsure about pursuing an immersion program, I can only recommend giving it a try. My trip to France with Xperitas brought a new dimension to a language and culture I hadn’t experienced firsthand. Exploring new places and cultures abroad has given me some of my best memories and best friends, and has certainly played a role in shaping my goals for the future.
