The first day, I immediately went up in a restaurant and ordered my food in full German. That confidence and encouragement from the restaurant staff set me up to feel confident in my skills and I was extremely proud of myself! Be open to new experiences. It’s a whole new culture and way of life, so if you seclude yourself from really cool opportunities, you won’t get as much out of everything!
Embark on a German Immersion Program in Germany & Austria, From Medieval Towns to Alpine Peaks
Abenteuer in den Alpen! is a 9-day, teacher-led educational journey designed for student groups seeking a German language immersion program that includes history and outdoor exploration. Students move beyond a single city, getting to know Germany’s regional diversity through medieval towns, modern urban life, and dramatic Alpine landscapes.
The program begins in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, before continuing to Munich, where students explore the Bavarian capital by bike and on foot. Cultural learning is reinforced through museums, historic squares, and everyday public spaces, offering a grounded understanding of German life past and present.
Nature and cross-border discovery define the second half of the journey. Students venture into the Bavarian Alps, ascend Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak, and continue into Austria to explore Salzburg. This dual German and Austrian travel itinerary balances language exposure with unforgettable scenery, cultural traditions, and shared group experiences, ideal for educators seeking immersive learning with variety and momentum.

See What Teachers Say About Xperitas
I was very impressed overall with our experience with Xperitas. Everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable and the website and other resources were excellent!
I think it was a confidence booster and the experience was so awesome for her and I know we will be lifelong friends with her host family. She already misses Germany and wants to look into studying abroad there or somewhere else and I know doing this program helped her make that decision. She is really looking forward to her senior year taking another year of German and possibly learning another language in college.
It was really amazing. I got to hang out with my friends and classmates while touring Berlin and then I got to experience German life with my host family. Spending time with my classmates from America in the German school also made it more fun, since I could still hangout with friends and make new ones in a different language. I saw beautiful sights and ate wonderful food and got to see a sliver of German life and a little bit of the world too.
I hope we can get back to filling our lives and our student’s lives with beautiful meaningful immersive experiences again soon! Yes, culture shock is such a great thing.
